Global Foundries (GF) is the new leading edge semiconductor foundry producer formed by a joint venture between AMD Inc and ATIC (Abu Dhabi).
 
In their recent World Class Suppliers Awards (2008) ceremony more than 120 Managers from a long list of key suppliers were invited to spend a half day with GF in their “state of the art” Semiconductor Foundry FAB in Dresden Germany, visiting the facilities and hearing from GF Board members what they require from their suppliers in the key areas of Technology, Quality, Cost, Flexibility and Service.
The highlight of the day was the World Class Awards presentation when suppliers judged by GF to have excelled in all those areas were presented with an award. 
Solvay Electronic Wet Chemicals Business was one of only four Companies chosen by GF to receive such an award in a “mini Oscar” type ceremony.
 
Although Solvay have supplied GF’s predecessor and sister Companies AMD and Spansion for many years, collecting a number of awards along the way, the Global Foundries World Class Suppliers program raises the bar both in terms of visibility and of performance requirements and we are proud to have been one of the very first Global Foundries award recipients and to have been recognized as one of it’s most valued suppliers by the newly formed Company.
