PVDF is, as partly fluorinated polymer, chemically inert against various chemicals used in the Semiconductor Industry, in particular warm acids.
It is also a very pure material. During the SOLEF® production, care is taken for raw material quality and environment to ensure a continuously high purity of the final product. Regular control of the metal content is part of this commitment. PVDF SOLEF® can be processed without any additives avoiding additional foreign contamination.
The surface finish obtained with PVDF SOLEF® extrusion grades is below the range of µm and thus guarantees the absence of excessive microorganism growth in Ultra Purity Water Supply Systems.
PVDF SOLEF® is resistant to UV light down to 232 nm and might thus be used in sterilization.
PVDF SOLEF® has a good abrasion resistance and a relatively high modulus, two advantages which makes it the material of choice for high purity piping systems. Various welding techniques for PVDF SOLEF® have been developed and proven for the past 20 years.
SOLVAY SOLEXIS offer a broad range of PVDF SOLEF® grades which are used for the various components of a wafer fab.
Two series of PVDF homopolymers are on the market :
Series 1000 :
SOLEF® 1008 - Injection molding (fittings, valves, pumps)
SOLEF® 1010 – Extrusion (pipes, sheets)
SOLEF® 1012 – Extrusion, compression molding (sheets)
Series 6000 :
SOLEF® 6008 – Injection molding (fittings, valves)
SOLEF® 6010 – Extrusion (pipes, sheets)
SOLEF® 6012 – Extrusion, compression molding (sheets)
Finally, PVDF SOLEF® has excellent fire safety properties, and thus complies to FM 4910 standards.
